Information about Dolpo in Nepal
The lower Dolpa circuit trekking is one of the most popular treks as it visit Phoksundo Lake, featured in Eric Valleys Oscar nominated movie “Caravan” Phoksundo, also known as the Blue Lake cuts one of the deepest gorges in Nepal but contains no aquatic life. This trek links to Phoksundo Lak experience with the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Dho. There are 130 Gompas in Dolpa, some of their historices going back to very early times. Shey Phoksundo National Park, great Himalayan scenery and Lake Phoksundo are the prime attraction of the region. The area is inhabited by people practicing the pre-Buddhist “Bon Po” that disappeared from Tibet in 9th century while lower Dolpa is home to Thakuris, Chhetris, Brahmins and Bhotiyas all mixed, But Upper Dolpa is home of Only Bhotiyas, their culture, dress, and speech are similar to Tibetans.
It is one of the few areas protecting trans- Himalayan ecology. Phoksundo Lake is one of the deepest and second large lake in Nepal. The ancient settlement of Jugdullah, Shey Phoksundo Natioal Park monasteries over 700 old years. The trail crosses two high passes ; Numla Pass (5190m) and Bagla Pass (5070m) before reaching the beautiful hamlet of Ringmo. The hiker’s first glimpse of Lake Phoksundo. Blue sheep, musk deer, snow leopard, ghoral, Himalayan tahr and bear inhait the National Park of this high Tibetan plateau.

Dolpo Trekking Itinerary
Day 01 = Pick up from Kathmandu International Airport by A/C private reserved Vehicle and drop to hotel and overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 02 = After breakfast, half day tour to visit World Heritage Site ( Boudhanath, Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swayambhunath) and late afternoon, departure to Kathmandu airport by Same private reserved Vehicle and FLY to Nepalganj and after arrival in Nepalganj, pick up from there by Another A/c private reserved Vehicle and drop to hotel and Overnight at hotel in Nepalganj.( Breakfast )
Day 03 = Nepalgunj – Juphal (2475m) - trek to Dunai (2140m).
After breakfast, departure to Nepalganj Airport and FLY to Juphal (35 minute's flight), and 3.5 hours walk to Dunai and Lunch at Dunai, and visit central Gompa and local Culture and Overnight stay at Dunai in Teahouse or home stay.( Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner )
Day 04 = Dunai –Sahartara (2730m )
6 hours trek to Sahartara from Dunai, lunch at Byasgar on the way to sightseeing and experience local culture and overnight at Tarabagar in tea house / home stay. ( Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner )
Day 05 = Sahartara – Lainicap (2772m - 4/5 hours).
Trek to Lainicap during 3-4 hours. Experience a natural hot spring. Visit to Tika Gompa, built by King of Jumla in before Nepal was unified and overnight at Lainicap in Tea House / Home Stay.( Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner )
Day 06 = Lainicap - Nawarpani / Toltol (3523m )
Trek to Nawarpani from Lainicap which takes 8 hours, experiencing nature and overnight at Nawarpani in tea house / home stay.( Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner )
Day 07 = Nawarpani – Dho Tarap (3944m)
Trek to Dho Tarap from Nawarpani, 5-7 hours walk and we take lunch at Sisaul. Side trip to Sipchowk which is one of highest settlement in the world at the elevation of 4200m from sea level and overnight at Dho Tarap in tea house / home stay.( Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner )

Day 08 = Rest and Acclimatization day.
Rest and relax or explore and a side trip to Sipchowk which is one of highest settlement in the world at the elevation of 4200m from sea level and overnight in tea house / home stay.( Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner )
Day 09 = Dho Tarap – Numala Base Camp (4440m)
Trek to Numala Base Camp from Dho Tarap. 4-6 hours walk and we have lunch at Tokyu and overnight at Dho in tented camp. ( Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner )
Day 10 = Numala Base Camp – Danigar (4691m)
Numala Base Camp – Danigar (4691m) - trek to Danigar from Numala Base Camp, 5-6 hours walk and overnight at Takshi in tented camp.( Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner )
Day 11 = Danigar – Yak Kharka /Bagala Base Camp (3982m)
Trek to Yak Kharka from Danigar (6 hours). We take lunch near Bagla Pass (5070m) and cross it and overnight at Yak Kharaka in teahouse / home stay.( Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner )
Day 12 = Yak Kharka – Ringmo or Phoksundo Lake (3733m)
Trek from Yak Kharka to Ringmo (5 hours walk). After lunch at Ringmo , we explore around areas, monastery and overnight at Ringmo in teahouse / home stay.( Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner )
Day 13 = Rest Day at Ringmo (3733m)
We take rest day to relax at camp and to explore Bhotiya Culture, Phoksundo lake and observe mountains and Suligad waterfall and overnight at Ringmo in teahouse / homestay.( Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner )
Day 14 = Ringmo – Chhekpa(2838m)
Trek to Chhekpa from Ringmo (7 hours walk) and overnight at Raichi in teahouse / homestay.( Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner )
Day 15 = Chhekpa - Juphal (2475m)
Trek from Chhekpa (6-7 hours walk) and overnight at Juphal in Hotel / Lodge. ( Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner )
Day 16 = Juphal – Nepalgunj – Kathmandu.
After breakfast, Fly Back to Nepalgunj (35 minutes) and after arrival in Nepalganj airport, Fly Back to Kathmandu (45 minutes) and drop to hotel and Farewell Dinner in a good restaurent and overnight in hotel in Kathmandu.( Breakfast and Dinner )
Day 17 = After breakfast, Final departure to Kathmandu International Airport by A/C private reserved Vehicle and tour ends. ( Breakfast )
